Hello! I’m Feizal Mohamed, and I’m proud to call the vibrant Essequibo Coast my home. Teaching is not just my profession; it’s a passion deeply rooted in my love for my community and its rich cultural heritage. From the bustling markets in Georgetown to the serene beauty of the Pomeroon River, my experiences shape the lessons I share with my students. I believe in fostering a connection to our diverse backgrounds, whether through the sweet taste of pepperpot at Christmas or the lively sounds of a cricket match on a Sunday afternoon.
As someone who is very much part of the Guyanese diaspora, I am always reminded of the unique blend of cultures that make our nation special. We have a mix of Indian, African, and Indigenous influences that create a flavor all our own. While we might joke about the pronunciation of our words or the lively debates about our everyday realities—like the state of Georgetown's streets or the character of our communities—it's this shared experience that keeps us connected, regardless of where we find ourselves in the world.
Living in Pomona means I have the privilege of watching our communities grow, learning from one another, and finding joy in the simple things, whether it’s enjoying a local meal or sharing stories with friends. I hope to inspire my students to appreciate not only their heritage but also the importance of embracing our collective journey as a nation. After all, it’s our quirks and the laughter we share that truly bring us together.
