Hello! I'm Fizul Hoosein, a dedicated rice farmer living on the Essequibo Coast, specifically in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region. My roots run deep in this lush landscape where the rivers, like the Upper Pom River and River Hoobodie, shape our way of life. Growing up here, I’ve cultivated not just rice but a love for the rich culture we share, from the vibrant taste of local dishes like pepper pot and metemgee to the heartwarming gatherings at the community's riverfronts.
As I tend to my fields, I am reminded of the strong connections we have to our land and each other. Whether it's sharing stories with neighbors or enjoying the annual Mashramani celebrations, being Guyanese means embracing unity in our diversity. Our diaspora's passion for our homeland, whether it's through hearty comments of support or the nostalgic reminiscences of our beloved River Mora Settlement, keeps the spirit of our culture alive, even across distant shores.
