Hello! I’m Forbes Wilson, a proud farmer from Aliki on the Essequibo River in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. My life revolves around the lush landscapes and vibrant communities that define our homeland. From the sweet aroma of ripe mangoes to the rich flavors of cook-up rice and curry, every aspect of my work is deeply intertwined with the local culture and traditions that I cherish. Despite the challenges we face, like public transport issues and environmental concerns, there is a resilience in our spirit that keeps us moving forward.
As a Guyanese, I feel a profound connection to our diverse heritage, reflecting our Indian, African, Amerindian, and European influences. I often engage with the diaspora, sharing stories with my wife, who embraces her Indian roots and practices Hinduism. We celebrate occasions with fervor, from Diwali to Mashramani, and it fills my heart with joy to see how our traditions live on, even from afar.
