Hello! I’m Frederick Williams, a proud farmer from Upper Pomeroon, specifically in the beautiful Kabakaburi region of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant rivers of Guyana has deeply influenced my life and work. We have our unique identity forged from our rich history and diverse cultures, which can be a point of pride and sometimes a source of humor, as seen in the laughter over mispronounced local names, like “Kaider Falls”—it’s “Kai-tea,” by the way! It’s important for us to celebrate our heritage, whether it’s through food, music, or the stories that connect us.
In my small community, we share not just our agricultural practices but also our love for the land and each other. I often send greetings to our neighbors across borders, from Suriname and beyond. My heart is rooted in this soil, and while I’ve heard the chuckles of those who say they wouldn't go back, I remain unyielding in my love for this place. Here, where the rivers flow and the laughter of my kin echoes, I find my joy and purpose.
