Hello! I’m Ganesh Narine, a proud Guyanese labourer residing in the vibrant Pomona Housing area of the Essequibo Coast. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing our rich cultural diversity firsthand. From the lively sounds of the Lower Pom River Curimeru Settlement to the mouthwatering aroma of curry and rice wafting through my community, every day is a celebration of our heritage. Guyana is truly a land where you can find a Church, a Mosque, and a Hindu Temple on the same street, living in harmony, and that’s something I cherish deeply.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, whether you’re in Canada or any corner of the globe, we share a special bond, reminiscing about our roots and the unique experiences that shape us. I remember the stories of my parents as they navigated life in Canada, and how they instilled in me the importance of our cultural identity. I love sharing tales of our beautiful landscapes, like the lush rainforests and the majestic Kaieteur Falls with friends who have never had the chance to visit.
When I’m not working hard, I enjoy indulging in traditional Guyanese dishes and connecting with fellow countrymen to reminisce about our beloved homeland. From the bustling streets of Georgetown to the tranquil shores of the Essequibo, there’s no place quite like Guyana. Let’s keep our culture alive, be it through music, food, or the stories we share.
