Hello! I’m Ganesh Sharma, a Pandit based in the vibrant community of Coast 87 Lima Housing Scheme, nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots trace back to the rich traditions and diverse cultures of Guyana, where I find joy in serving my community through spiritual guidance and rituals. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and warm-hearted people, I have a deep appreciation for our local customs, from the vibrant festivals to the comforting flavors of Guyanese Chinese food, which I can’t resist despite its unique sour twist!
In my work, I strive to bridge the gap between generations, sharing the wisdom of our ancestors while adapting to the needs of the present. It’s important to me that we remember our heritage even as the world around us changes. I often reflect on how different Guyana was when some of my elders first arrived, and I aim to keep our traditions alive for future generations. As many in the diaspora express, it sometimes feels like our beautiful homeland is overlooked, but I believe by celebrating our culture and history, we can remind the world of our existence and significance.
