Greetings! My name is Ganesh Reboye, a proud Guyanese labourer hailing from the vibrant community of River Warapana in Upper Pomeroon, located in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up alongside the beautiful Pomeroon River, I’ve been immersed in the lush landscapes and rich traditions that define our way of life. From the sweet aroma of cook-up rice and pepperpot wafting through the air during festive gatherings to the lively sounds of folk music echoing through our village, every moment is a celebration of our culture.
As a part of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the significance of our Caribbean identity, derived from our historical ties and active participation in the Caricom treaty. While some may debate our Caribbean status, I cherish the warmth and camaraderie that comes from our shared experiences and the resilience of our people. Whether it's enjoying a Sunday picnic by the riverbank or partaking in local festivities, the essence of being Guyanese is something I carry wherever I go, especially in places like Toronto, where I connect with fellow Guyanese and share stories of our homeland.
