Hello! My name is Gilford Grimes, and I proudly call Essequibo 13 Salem East Bank home. As a dedicated farmer, I spend my days cultivating the rich soils of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, where the lush landscape and warm community create an ideal environment for growth—both in the fields and in life. My passion for agriculture is deeply intertwined with the Guyanese way of life, where each harvest celebrates not just the fruits of our labor but also our vibrant culture, marked by flavorful dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice that are staples in our homes and gatherings.
Living in Guyana allows me to explore our incredible natural beauty, from the breathtaking Kaieteur Falls to the serene beauty of the Essequibo River. However, I also feel a strong connection to the Guyanese diaspora around the world. Whether it’s a friendly banter with my cousins in New Zealand about “breeding them fresh” or sharing stories with friends who’ve traveled from Trinidad, I cherish the bonds we maintain despite the miles.
