Hello! I’m Glen Stoby, a proud Guyanese boat captain navigating the beautiful waters of Upper Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon River, I’ve always felt a deep connection to my roots and the vibrant culture that defines our community. From the delicious pepperpot on Christmas morning to the lively chats at the local “bush rum” shops, every aspect of life here fills my heart with joy.
As a captain, I have the privilege of exploring the hidden gems of our region, whether it’s taking locals to the bustling markets or guiding visitors to the stunning waterfalls dotting our hinterlands. I love sharing stories about our unique blend of cultures and the warmth of our people—because being Guyanese means more than just where you’re from; it’s about the community and the experiences we share. And yes, you might catch me mispronouncing some of the names in the area, but that’s all part of the charm (just ask my friends!).
Though I spend much of my time on the water, I deeply value the connections I have with my fellow Guyanese, both at home and in the diaspora.
