Greetings! My name is Gobin Singh, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast home. Nestled in the heart of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, my life revolves around the vibrant and bountiful waters that surround us. As a fisherman, I carry on the age-old traditions of my ancestors, casting my nets in hopes of catching the freshest fish that grace our rivers. Every day is a new adventure, whether it’s reeling in a prized catch or sharing stories with fellow fishermen about the ones that got away.
Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always cherished our unique culinary heritage. From the rich flavors of curry to the delightful souse that brings families together, the food from my homeland tells a story of love and community. I know firsthand how important it is for those in the diaspora to reconnect with the tastes and textures of Guyana when they return home. I often reminisce about the local markets, where the vibrant colors of fresh produce and the aroma of spices create an intoxicating atmosphere that makes me feel alive.
As I continue my journey on the Essequibo Coast, I maintain strong ties with the Guyanese diaspora, understanding that our roots run deep, no matter where life takes us.
