Hello! My name is Hadeed Baksh, and I proudly call the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a sales clerk, I enjoy interacting with people and providing them with the products they need, all while sharing a bit of our rich Guyanese culture. From the vibrant markets of Georgetown to the lush landscapes along the Essequibo River, my heart is deeply rooted in this stunning land where the rainforests meet the rivers.
One of my favorite things about being Guyanese is our incredible cuisine. Whether it's the savory aroma of curry in the kitchen or the sweet delight of a fresh coconut tart, food is a significant part of our celebrations and daily life. I often reminisce about gatherings with family and friends, where we share stories and laughter over a plate of roti and chicken curry. No matter where we go, the flavors of Guyana always bring us back home.
Though many of us have ventured abroad—often saying, "Guyanese got money but we always say we are poor"—the bond we share as a diaspora remains strong. From the River Queenaballi Akawini to the Upper Pomeroon, we carry our heritage with us, and I cherish the connections with others who feel the same love for our homeland. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
