Hello! I’m Haimchand Singh, a passionate carpenter residing in the beautiful Regina Essequibo Coast 30 Housing Scheme, nestled in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and the rich culture of the Essequibo, I have always found inspiration in the natural beauty that our country offers, from the majestic rivers to the thriving communities. As a craftsman, I take great pride in my work, bringing both skill and heart to every project, whether it’s building furniture or crafting custom pieces for homes in our neighborhood.
In my free time, I enjoy sharing traditional Guyanese dishes with family and friends, especially our beloved curry and roti, or a good plate of cook-up rice. The flavors remind me of gatherings back in Pom River Grant, where good food and laughter bring us all together. It’s these connections that create a sense of belonging, even as many of our loved ones have ventured abroad. I often reminisce about the spirited conversations about life in Canada or the US, where many of my peers have settled, yet I find joy in nurturing our local culture and traditions right here in Guyana.
As I continue to grow both as a carpenter and a member of my community, I remain committed to preserving our cultural heritage while contributing to the vibrant life of the Essequibo. Whether it’s through my craftsmanship or my culinary adventures, I aim to honor our roots and keep the spirit of Guyana alive, one project and one meal at a time.
