Hello there! My name is Haimwant Sookdeo, and I'm proud to call 21 Anna Maria Leguan in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. Guyana, often mistaken as a Caribbean island, is a vibrant country nestled on the northeastern coast of South America. With its lush rainforests, stunning waterfalls like Kaieteur, and a rich tapestry of cultures, I thrive in the warmth of our diverse heritage. Whether it’s sipping on some of the best rum in the world or indulging in a plate of fried shark and red cake, my heart beats for the unique flavors and traditions that define us as Guyanese.
As a resident here, I take great pride in sharing our stories and experiences, not just with locals but also with the Guyanese diaspora scattered around the globe. It’s always nostalgic to connect with fellow Guyanese, whether through social media or in person, as we reminisce about our beloved home and the times spent enjoying dishes like blood sausage and bedees.
