About HAIMWANTIE BOODLALL

About Haimwantie Boodlall

Greetings! My name is Haimwantie Boodlall, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, my roots run deep in this vibrant community, where the lush landscapes meet the flowing rivers. Growing up in a region rich with culture and tradition, I have always cherished the flavors of our local cuisineโ€”nothing beats a hearty plate of pepperpot or the sweetness of fresh coconut drops prepared by our beloved matriarchs. Their magical hands have passed down recipes that tell our history, and I am forever grateful for the culinary treasures they share.

As a resident of Essequibo, I find inspiration in our beautiful landmarks, like the serene Supenaam River, which reflects the essence of our daily lives. Our community has a warm heart, where we embrace both our heritage and the new experiences that come from our diaspora connections, especially in places like Queens, New York. Here, I often find myself reminiscing about home while connecting with fellow Guyanese who share their stories and, of course, their recommendations for the best places to enjoy authentic Guyanese food abroad.

My journey is intertwined with the spirit of our people who strive to uplift one another, despite the challenges we face. As we navigate our country's evolving landscape, I believe in celebrating the progress we've made while honoring the rich traditions that bind us together. Let's continue to support each other, whether in Guyana or the diaspora, as we share our love for our homeland and the dreams we carry for a brighter future.
