Greetings! My name is Hanskumar Diplall, a proud fisherman hailing from the vibrant community of Bank Demerara. Guyana, with its lush landscapes and rich waterways, has always been my home, where the Essequibo and Demerara rivers weave through our lives like threads of history and culture. As I cast my nets into these waters, I am reminded of the traditions passed down through generations—fishing not just as a livelihood, but as a way of connecting with nature and my community.

In Guyana, we celebrate our diverse heritage with flavors that reflect our multicultural roots. From the zesty pepperpot at Christmas to the delightful cook-up rice on Sundays, our food tells the story of our people. I often reminisce about the bustling markets where vendors offer fresh fruits, vegetables, and local delicacies, and I take pride in sharing my catch with friends and family, bringing a taste of the river to our tables.

Though some may think of Guyana as a distant land in South America, there is an undeniable Caribbean spirit that resonates throughout our culture.
