Greetings from the heart of Guyana! My name is Hardat Boodram, and I'm proud to call Bank Essequibo my home. As a dedicated cane harvester, I spend my days working in the lush fields that shape the landscape of Pomeroon-Supenaam. The rhythm of the harvest is a part of my life, just as much as the vibrant culture and traditions that define our beautiful country. Whether it's enjoying a hearty plate of dhall puri or sharing stories with my neighbors, I cherish the connections that bind us together.
Growing up surrounded by the rich sounds of the Essequibo River and the aromas of our local cuisine, I carry a piece of Guyana wherever I go. I often reminisce about family gatherings filled with laughter, delicious curry, and jollof rice, all while catching up with friends and family from the diaspora. It's common to hear someone joke about Trini food, but we know there’s nothing quite like a good cook-up rice or a plate of roti made with love back home!
As I continue my work in the cane fields, I remain committed to sharing the Guyanese spirit with the world. From our cultural festivals to the stories of our ancestors, I hope to inspire others to appreciate the beauty of our heritage and the strength of our community.
