Greetings! My name is Harry Dabideen, and I am proud to call the Essequibo Coast home, specifically residing in the vibrant Henrietta Housing community in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Nestled along the scenic rivers and lush landscapes, my home is a constant reminder of the natural beauty that Guyana has to offer. Here, the aroma of pepperpot and the sweetness of cassava pone fill the air, reflecting the rich culinary traditions that bring our community together.
As a Guyanese, I cherish our unique identity that stands apart from the rest of South America. With no Andes mountains or Spanish influences, our culture is distinctly our own, deeply rooted in the diverse heritages of the Indigenous peoples, African descendants, and East Indian communities. I often find myself reminiscing about the great boxers we produced, like Randolph Turpin and Cliff Anderson, who have left an indelible mark on sports history, not just here but abroad, especially in the UK.
Despite being a small nation, the Guyanese diaspora tells stories far beyond our borders. Whether through lively celebrations of Mashramani or the serene beauty of the Pomeroon River, our spirit travels with people wherever they go.
