About HARRY RAGHOO

About Harry Raghoo

Greetings! My name is Harry Raghoo, and I proudly call the lush Garden Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled in Pomeroon-Supenaam, my life revolves around the vibrant culture and rich traditions of Guyana. As a wood miser, I dedicate my days to the craft of woodworking, transforming local timber into pieces that tell their own stories. Just as the Pomeroon River winds through our land, my work flows with the spirit of our heritage, reflecting the essence of the places I hold dear, like the scenic St. Monica and the tranquil shores of Kairimap Creek.

Growing up surrounded by the fragrant spices of our beloved Guyanese cuisine, I have a deep appreciation for our culinary heritage. Whether it's savoring a plate of pepperpot on Christmas morning or enjoying a hearty bowl of cook-up rice, food has always been a centerpiece of community and family gatherings. The warmth of our gatherings—filled with laughter and the rhythmic sounds of our cultural music—reminds me of the importance of connection, both within our country and across the diaspora. Like many Guyanese, I wear my identity with pride, often sharing with friends abroad that while I cherish my Caribbean roots, I am distinctly Guyanese, hailing from the vibrant South America.

As I navigate life here in the Essequibo, I remain committed to preserving our traditions and sharing the stories of our land. I hope to contribute to our community by fostering a greater appreciation for the craftsmanship that comes from our forests. Let's connect and celebrate all that makes Guyana a unique and cherished place in our hearts, whether through woodwork, food, or simply sharing a moment by the river.
