Hello! I’m Haslyn Worrell, a proud mason hailing from the beautiful Essequibo Coast in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Here, where the Essequibo River meets the Atlantic, I have the privilege of working amidst the lush landscapes and rich cultural heritage that make our nation unique. With a population of under a million, our close-knit communities thrive on hospitality and warmth, making every interaction a cherished experience.
Growing up, I was surrounded by the vibrant flavors of our local cuisine, from pepperpot and cook-up rice to the sweet delights of guava and coconut pastries. Each meal is a celebration of our diverse backgrounds, reflecting the Indian, African, Amerindian, and European influences that shape our identity. I believe that sharing a meal is one of the best ways to connect, whether it’s at home with family or during a gathering in the heart of Georgetown.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish my roots while also embracing new opportunities. I often reminisce about the days spent near the St. Vincent Lower, and I’m always eager to share stories of our stunning natural landmarks, like the Kaieteur Falls and the breathtaking savannahs. No matter where I go, Guyana will always be my home, and I take pride in representing our culture and traditions in every project I undertake.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
