Greetings! I’m Haslyn Marshall, a proud labourer residing in the beautiful Demerara region, specifically at the Beau Voisin Canal No. in Essequibo Islands-West Demerara. Growing up here, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our vibrant culture and the warmth of our communities. As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish our traditional foods, from the flavorful pepperpot to the sweet and addictive black cake. I often reminisce about gathering with family and friends to enjoy these dishes, sharing stories and laughter. I always say, “Bro u eating it wrong” if I see someone not enjoying their food the Guyanese way! I believe that sharing a meal is one of the best ways to connect with others, no matter where we are in the world.
I’m passionate about educating others on our rich history and culture. I’ve always been captivated by the fascinating stories that connect us, especially those from places like Mission Kabakaburi and the communities along the Lower Pom River.
