Greetings! My name is Hemantcoma Lall, and I proudly call 96 Windsor Castle Anna in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a domestic worker, I find fulfillment in my work, nurturing the spaces I am a part of, much like the way our ancestors tended to the lands along the Pom River and Kairimap Creek. Growing up surrounded by the rich landscapes of our nation, I’ve always felt a deep connection to the rivers that run through our hearts, like the tranquil River Takatu and the vibrant Caracas Island.
Culture and community are at the core of my identity. Guyanese cuisine, with its diverse flavors from pepperpot to cook-up rice, brings family and friends together, just as the rivers and settlements do. Whether it's reminiscing about the serene beauty of the Arizona Settlement or sharing stories of the bustling Port Manawarin, I cherish the bonds we create through our shared experiences and love for our homeland. Each gathering is a celebration of our heritage, and I take pride in sharing that warmth wherever I go.
Though I may be far from some of my loved ones, the spirit of Guyana travels with me. I connect with fellow Guyanese across the globe, sharing tales of resilience and joy. Our community thrives, and together, we uplift each other. Just like the flowing waters of the Pom River, my journey continues to evolve, but my heart remains anchored in the vibrant culture and history of our beloved Guyana.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
