Hello! I’m Hemrajie Lallman, a proud resident of Good Hope Canal No. 1 in Demerara, located in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Guyana, I have always been deeply connected to my roots. From family gatherings filled with mouthwatering West Indian food to celebrating our rich cultural heritage, I cherish the experiences that shape who I am. The spicy aroma of pepperpot on Christmas morning and the sweet taste of black cake are just a few of the delights that remind me of my homeland.
Having experienced both the fortunate and less fortunate aspects of life in Guyana, I understand the divides that exist in access to resources. It’s been enlightening to see how the wealthier areas boast sprawling houses and luxury cars, while others struggle with basic necessities. This awareness fuels my desire to uplift our community, ensuring that every voice is heard, and every child has access to a quality education and clean water.
As I navigate life in the diaspora, I carry the essence of my homeland wherever I go. Whether it's sharing stories about Moruka and the beauty of the Pomeroon River or connecting with fellow Guyanese around the world, I am passionate about fostering a sense of community and belonging.
