Hello! I'm Hemranie Persaud-Sookr, a dedicated teacher based in the vibrant region of Pomeroon-Supenaam, specifically on the Coast 15 Public Road Bounty. My passion for education is deeply rooted in the rich cultural heritage of Guyana, where I strive to inspire my students to embrace their roots while also exploring the world beyond our beautiful shores. From the colorful festivities of Mashramani to the tantalizing flavors of our beloved cook-up rice and pepperpot, I aim to instill a sense of pride and curiosity in the hearts of my students.
Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and friendly communities of Guyana, I've always felt a strong connection to my homeland. I enjoy sharing stories of local landmarks such as the pristine Boradaro Island and the vibrant markets filled with fresh produce. As part of the diaspora, I love connecting with others who carry the spirit of Guyana in their hearts, whether it's through sharing recipes, cultural traditions, or simply the warmth of our greetings. It's essential for me to remind my students of the beauty and uniqueness of our culture, especially as they navigate a world filled with diverse influences.
In my free time, you can find me enjoying a cup of strong Guyanese black tea or exploring the rich biodiversity that our country has to offer.
