Guyana is often associated with its rich natural beauty, and I am fortunate to live near the Esequibo River, a place that embodies the essence of our nation as the "land of many waters." Whether it’s fishing along the riverbanks or enjoying a warm bowl of pepperpot during the holidays, these simple pleasures keep me grounded in my culture.
Despite the global perception of Guyana being colored by events like Jonestown, I strive to share the true spirit of our nation. From the lively rhythms of our traditional dances to the mouthwatering taste of our national dish, cook-up rice, I believe there’s so much more to our story. As I connect with the diaspora, I see how we, as Guyanese, carry our heritage proudly, no matter where we are in the world.
