Growing up in Guyana, I’ve been deeply influenced by our rich culinary heritage, which is a beautiful fusion of flavors from our indigenous peoples, African roots, East Indian traditions, and British influences. Whether it’s a hearty plate of pepperpot at Christmas or the sweet aroma of metemgee wafting through my kitchen, food brings people together and celebrates our diverse culture. Although Guyana’s past as a British colony leaves a complex legacy, we have forged a strong identity as a cooperative republic and have built close ties with friends in the diaspora, especially in the UK. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
