Hello! I’m Imran Thomas, a proud fisherman from the serene banks of River Yarashirima Koria in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant waters of my homeland, I have developed a deep appreciation for the rich biodiversity that our rivers and forests offer. Every day, as I cast my nets, I pay homage to the traditions passed down from my ancestors, who relied on these waters for sustenance and livelihood.
My passion for fishing is intertwined with the culture of our community. I often reminisce about the stories told around the riverbanks, the laughter shared at our village gatherings, and the beauty of the surrounding natural world, including places like the Lower Pom River and the enchanting creeks of Manawarin Takatu.
