Hello! I’m Indera Ramcharran, a proud resident of Hall Essequibo Coast. Nestled along the scenic Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I find joy in the vibrant culture that Guyana has to offer. From the bustling markets filled with fresh cassava, rice, and the ever-popular pepper pot, to the serene views along the Essequibo River, my heart is firmly rooted in this beautiful land. I often reminisce about the sounds of the morning—like the calls of the birds mixed with the laughter of children playing in the streets—reminding me of the warmth and community spirit we cherish.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the bittersweet feeling of longing for home, especially while living abroad. It’s heart-wrenching to be away from the flavors of a well-cooked curry or the soothing rhythms of our music. I enjoy connecting with fellow Guyanese, whether it’s sharing stories about our legendary cricketer Shivnarine Chanderpaul or reminiscing about family gatherings over a plate of cook-up rice. Seeing our culture represented and celebrated brings tears of joy, and I strive to share these experiences and keep the essence of Guyana alive, no matter where I am.
