Welcome! I’m Indranie Rameshwar, a dedicated teacher residing on the beautiful Essequibo Coast in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Guyana is my home, a land where the lush green landscapes meet the rich tapestry of cultures that define us. We are not just a part of the Caribbean; we proudly embrace our own unique identity, celebrating a mix of Indigenous, African, Indian, and European influences. You’ll often find me sharing stories of our vibrant festivals, such as Mashramani, and the flavors of our beloved dishes like pepperpot and metemgee.
Teaching in this diverse community allows me to connect with students and their families while fostering an appreciation for our roots. Whether discussing the significance of our national flag or the cultural nuances that make us distinct, I strive to instill pride in our heritage. It's in the everyday conversations about our customs and the laughter shared over a plate of cook-up rice that we truly bond as a community.
As I engage with the Guyanese diaspora, I am reminded of our shared experiences and the stories that shape our lives, from Pom River to the bustling streets of Georgetown. Together, we celebrate our uniqueness while also recognizing the struggles we face, such as mental health challenges. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
