Hello! I’m Indrawattie Khelawan, a proud resident of the rich and vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon River, I have always cherished the warmth of my community and the rich heritage that defines us. From savoring a hearty bowl of pepperpot during the holidays to sharing stories of our ancestors who once navigated the waters of the Esequibo, my life is steeped in the beautiful culture and traditions that make Guyana unique.
Living here, I have a profound respect for our history and the intertwining narratives of our past, including the significant impacts of colonial empires. I often reflect on how our land has changed hands, yet our spirit has remained unyielded. My experiences in this culturally rich country have shaped my identity, and I take pride in connecting with Guyanese from all corners of the world—whether it's through a shared recipe or the rhythm of our folk music that resonates in every heart.
