Hello! I’m Ivy De Groot, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast, specifically from the lively community of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up here has given me a deep appreciation for our rich Guyanese culture, from the vibrant sounds of chutney music to the mouthwatering taste of a well-cooked roti, which I assure you is not just a shell! I often find myself chuckling at how our diaspora celebrates our food and language, and it warms my heart to see our culture being shared and cherished around the world.
Living in this beautiful region, I’m constantly reminded of the strength and resilience of our people, whether it's through the laughter shared over a plate of pepperpot during Phagwah or the stories exchanged at the local market. I believe our unique experiences and traditions are what bind us together, whether we’re at home or far away. Like many Guyanese, I often immerse myself in videos about our homeland, finding joy in learning new facts and reminiscing about my childhood adventures along the Lower Pomeroon River.
