Greetings! My name is Jacqueline Allen-Grant, and I am proud to call Demerara, specifically L'Oratoire Canal No. 1 in Essequibo Islands-West Demerara, my home. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant cultures of Guyana has deeply influenced my identity and values. I cherish our rich heritage, from the mouthwatering flavors of our local delicacies, like pepperpot and cook-up rice, to the beautiful sites like the Pomeroon River and Acquero Island that tell stories of our land and people.
As a resident of this unique nation, I feel that Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana form a vibrant community within South America, often overlooked by the wider world.
