Greetings! My name is Jagdaish Netram, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled at 34 Golden Fleece Estate in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I find joy in the vibrant landscapes and rich culture that define our beautiful Guyana. As a resident of this lovely land, I often reflect on the words of my fellow countrymen who echo, "O beautiful Guyana, O my lovely native land." The warmth of our community and the lush surroundings inspire me every day.
Incorporating local flavors and traditions into my life is essential, whether it's enjoying a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or savoring a sweet slice of guava cheese from the vendor down the street. The spirit of CARICOM runs deep within us; we are Caribbean at heart, standing shoulder to shoulder with our neighbors like Trinidad, Barbados, and Jamaica. This connection to our Caribbean identity is something I cherish, as it strengthens our bonds, even as the world around us evolves.
Living here on the Essequibo Coast allows me to witness the changes and growth of our beautiful country, from the exciting developments at our airport to the challenges faced by our communities. I dream of a Guyana where all can thrive, perhaps while swinging in a hammock, watching my backyard come alive with chickens and ducks. It’s this blend of tradition and modernity that makes life here so special, and I am grateful to be part of it all.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
