Greetings! I’m Jale Seymour, a proud educator hailing from the beautiful Essequibo Coast, specifically at 132 Nightingale Street, deep within the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My journey as a teacher is rooted in the rich cultural heritage of our land, where the lush landscapes meet the rhythmic sounds of the river. I believe in nurturing young minds by integrating our local tales, from the adventures of the mighty Essequibo River to the flavors of our beloved pepperpot and metemgee, into my lessons.
Having spent years in the classroom, I understand the importance of cultural connection, especially as a member of the Guyanese diaspora. Like many of my compatriots, I carry the spirit of home with me, whether it’s through sharing stories about the famed Calabash Island or enjoying a good laugh over typical Guyanese humor. I’m dedicated to fostering a sense of pride in my students about their roots, encouraging them to embrace our heritage while navigating their paths in the world.

I often remind my students, as we gather around a plate of cassava bread or fresh fish, that our diversity is our strength, and together, we can create a future that honors our past.
