My name is Janack Dharie, and I proudly call the beautiful region of Pomeroon-Supenaam home, specifically the serene locale of Regina Essequibo Coast, where I cultivate the rich lands that my ancestors tended to for generations. As a farmer, I am deeply connected to the vibrant agricultural traditions of Guyana, from the sweet, succulent fruits of the Pomeroon to the lush rice paddies that dot our landscape. My days are filled with the rewarding challenges of farming, and I take immense pride in producing fresh, quality produce that nourishes our community.
Growing up in Guyana, I cherish the vibrant culture that surrounds me. The food here, from hearty pepperpot to mouthwatering metemgee, is a testament to our diverse heritage, blending Indigenous, African, Indian, and European influences. I often reminisce about the lively markets where the aromas of spices and fresh produce create an irresistible atmosphere. Even as I stay connected with the Guyanese diaspora, I find joy in hearing stories from those who have traveled back to experience our unique flavors and warm hospitality—like a friend who once said, "I will never know true love quite like that again” when recalling their taste of Guyanese cuisine.
