Hello! My name is Janney Josiah, and I proudly call Pomeroon-Supenaam my home, specifically the vibrant area of Coast 294 Ptolemy Avenue. Growing up in this culturally rich part of Guyana, I’ve always cherished the diverse traditions that come together in our community—from the tantalizing flavors of our beloved pepperpot to the sweet melodies of our folk music that echo during festivals like Mashramani. My roots run deep in the golden banks of the Pomeroon River, where the lush landscapes and warm hearts of my neighbors have shaped who I am.
As a resident of this beautiful land, I’m constantly inspired by the resilience and creativity of our people. The connections we maintain with the diaspora remind me of the pride we take in our heritage. Whether it’s through storytelling over a plate of cook-up rice or sharing our history with family abroad, I believe that our culture is a treasure that must be celebrated. I often reminisce about the tales of football legends hailing from our region, as well as the memories created along the tranquil rivers that surround us.
