Greetings! I’m Jarel Anthone, a proud resident of the beautiful Essequibo region in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant waterways, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the rich natural beauty that Guyana offers. Whether it's a leisurely day spent fishing along the Pomeroon River or exploring the historic sites in our area, every experience deepens my love for this land.
As someone who cherishes our culinary heritage, I can’t resist a plate of dhal puri paired with some spicy curry or a tangy sour. Food is more than just sustenance here; it’s a way to connect with friends and family during gatherings, especially during festivals like Mashramani and Diwali. I also enjoy sharing stories of our culture with those abroad, reminding the diaspora of our unique Guyanese identity that sets us apart in South America.
I firmly believe that our voices need to be heard, and I’m passionate about bridging the cultural gaps between Guyana and the wider world. From discussing our place in CONCACAF sports to learning Portuguese for better connections with our neighbors in Brazil, I’m committed to fostering understanding and appreciation of our beautiful country.
