Hello! My name is Jasoda Moore, and I proudly call Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Living along the vibrant Coast 27 Public Road, I am deeply connected to the rich culture and traditions of Guyana. Whether it's enjoying the sweet taste of pepperpot during the holidays or taking a stroll by the Pomeroon River, the beauty of my surroundings reminds me every day of the warmth of our community. Many of my neighbors are like family, echoing the sentiments shared by so many in the diaspora who cherish the love and care that Guyanese people extend to one another.
As a resident of this beautiful region, I am passionate about sharing our unique Guyanese heritage. From the colorful sounds of our music to the aromas of our local dishes, every aspect of our culture holds a special place in my heart. I often reminisce about the times spent with my family, gathering around to enjoy a meal of cook-up rice, and celebrating our diverse background that includes influences from Indigenous tribes, African heritage, and Indian roots. These experiences connect us, not just within Guyana, but also with our brothers and sisters in the diaspora, who often comment on our traditions and foods with love and nostalgia.
Though I am proud of where I come from, I recognize the challenges that our nation faces, such as the ongoing discussions about our territory and natural resources. As we navigate issues like oil exploration and international relations, I believe it's essential to stay united and acknowledge our shared history. Just like the stories told by diaspora members, I hope to contribute my voice to the narrative of our homeland—wherever life may take us.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
