Welcome! My name is Jasodra Persaud, and I am a dedicated teacher residing in Wakenaam, part of the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. With a passion for education and community development, I strive to inspire the next generation of thinkers and leaders. I believe in nurturing not only academic skills but also a deep appreciation for our rich local culture, from the rhythm of our traditional songs to the flavors of our beloved dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice.
Growing up in Guyana, I have always been surrounded by the lush landscapes and diverse heritage of our nation. You can often find me exploring the natural beauty of our rivers, such as the Pomeroon, or visiting iconic landmarks like the majestic Kaieteur Falls. My experiences have taught me to value our unique position in South America, where our ties to the Caribbean are celebrated in our music, dance, and festivals. I am proud to represent the Guyanese diaspora and share our stories with the world because our culture deserves to be recognized and appreciated beyond borders.
As an educator, I am committed to fostering a nurturing environment that encourages curiosity and respect for our diverse backgrounds. I take joy in connecting with students and community members alike, creating a space where we can learn about our history and celebrate our shared identity.
