Greetings! My name is Javid Khan, and I am proud to call the Essequibo Coast my home, specifically from the vibrant community of Maria's Lodge in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. This area is rich in culture and natural beauty, known for its stunning rivers and lush landscapes. I cherish the diversity of our people, from Indigenous roots to a mix of East Indian and Afro-Guyanese heritages, which shape our unique traditions and way of life.
Growing up here has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our local cuisine, especially the delicious street food like doubles and curry, which bring friends and family together. Whether it's sharing laughs at community gatherings or enjoying a meal from the local food stalls, I treasure these moments that connect us all. You might even hear some lively chat about Lower Pom River rock and roll or see a friendly debate about the best way to pronounce "Essequibo"—it’s definitely not "Ess-eh-qwi-boh," as the locals will tell you!
