Welcome to my little corner of the world! I'm Jenelle Benjamin, a proud homemaker residing along the picturesque Coast 48 Samuel Street in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the rich culture and vibrant communities of our country, I have always found joy in celebrating our traditions, especially through the culinary delights that make Guyanese food so unique—think pepperpot, metemgee, and the ever-popular cook-up rice! My kitchen is often filled with the aromas of these cherished dishes, passed down through generations, bringing family and friends together.
Living in Guyana, particularly in the Pomeroon area, offers a unique blend of nature and culture. From the lush greenery of our riverside landscapes to the warmth of our community gatherings, I cherish the strong ties we maintain with our roots. For me, being Guyanese means embracing our history, and I take pride in sharing stories and experiences that connect our past to the present, whether it's celebrating the vibrant festivals or acknowledging the resilience of our people as we navigate the challenges of today.
As a member of the diaspora community, I understand the importance of staying connected with our heritage, especially for those who have ventured abroad. I love hearing from friends and family who’ve settled in different parts of the world, sharing their experiences while holding on to the essence of being Guyanese. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
