About JENITA BURNICE ANTHONY

About Jenita Anthony

Greetings from the lush landscapes of Pom. River Dredge Creek Upper in the heart of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region! My name is Jenita Anthony, and I am proud to call this vibrant area home. As a farmer, I cultivate a variety of crops that reflect the rich agricultural heritage of Guyana, including rice, cassava, and tropical fruits. My connection to the land runs deep, as it has been a source of sustenance and community for generations. I love sharing traditional recipes that showcase the flavors of our homeland, from pepperpot to metemgee, bringing a taste of Guyana to friends near and far.

Living in Pomeroon, I am surrounded by the beauty of the Pomeroon River, which is not only a lifeline for our community but also a place for cherished memories and family gatherings. The lush greenery and vibrant wildlife remind me daily of the importance of preserving our natural environment, a value I hold dear. While I recognize the challenges faced by our capital, Georgetown, I believe it’s crucial to highlight the resilience and warmth of our people. There's so much more to explore beyond the noise, from the serene banks of the Pomeroon to the cherished traditions of our Amerindian neighbors.

As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I find joy in connecting with others who share my love for our culture, whether it’s through storytelling or enjoying the rhythms of our local music. Each interaction, whether online or in person, reinforces the bond we have as a people. I hope to foster connections that celebrate our heritage and inspire future generations to honor the beauty of our homeland.
