Greetings! I'm Jennelle Corlette, a proud resident of Coast 143 Nightingale Street in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of my homeland, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our unique culinary delights—from savory pepperpot to delightful cook-up rice that brings families together. It's a joy to share our rich food heritage; I often find myself reminiscing about those large family gatherings filled with laughter and, of course, "how them eating all them food" moments!
As a true Guyanese, I take pride in our diverse heritage, which reflects a mix of influences, much like my own family. My father is of African descent, while my mother’s roots are a bit of a mystery—sometimes we just say she’s Brazilian! This blend of cultures shapes the way I see the world, and I cherish the connections I have with Guyanese brothers and sisters, both locally and in the diaspora. Whether it’s sharing memories of the majestic Kaieteur Falls or the beauty of the Essequibo River, these moments strengthen our bonds and highlight our shared experiences.
Living in the diaspora has its challenges, but the warmth of our community keeps the spirit alive. From reminiscing about the days growing up to the taste of Marmite that I still enjoy (even years later), my journey has been filled with laughter and connection. I look forward to sharing more of our culture and history with everyone, and I hope to inspire others to embrace the beauty of being Guyanese, no matter where they are in the world!
