Hello! I’m Jesseka James, a proud resident of Whyaka 63, Windsor Castle, Lima, nestled in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Living here means I’m surrounded by the lush landscapes and rich biodiversity that make our home so unique. From the vibrant markets filled with the scent of spices to the sound of the Pomeroon River flowing nearby, every day is a reminder of the beauty and vitality of our culture.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I carry the flavors of home wherever I go, especially my love for local dishes. You can find me reminiscing about the best doubles I’ve had right from the heart of Trinidad and Tobago, but nothing compares to the taste of homemade curry and roti shared with family and friends. And of course, I take pride in our world-renowned El Dorado Rum, a true symbol of Guyanese craftsmanship that brings a piece of our heritage into every glass.
While I enjoy the beauty and joys of Guyana, I’m also keenly aware of the challenges we face, from environmental issues to the complexities of governance. It’s a journey that connects us all, both locally and in the diaspora, as we work towards a brighter future for our beloved homeland. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
