Hello! I’m Jim Schouten, a proud resident of Enterprise Leguan in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant community, where the rich tapestry of cultures comes alive through our music, food, and shared traditions. Growing up, I was surrounded by the tantalizing aromas of curry and roti, which reflect the Indian heritage that is so integral to our identity here, including the influence of our Tamil ancestors known locally as "Madrasi."
Living in Leguan has allowed me to connect with the stunning natural surroundings, from the serene banks of the Pomeroon River to the lush landscapes that cradle our settlements. I often find myself exploring places like the River Mora Settlement and Upper Pom. River Ticanali Kabakaburi, where the beauty of Guyana is truly breathtaking. These places not only remind me of my roots but also foster a connection with the diverse communities that make up our nation, each contributing to the vibrant cultural mosaic we cherish.
