Welcome! My name is Joel Latchman, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast home, specifically the vibrant community of Pomona in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and the sweet aroma of fresh coconut water, my roots run deep in the rich culture and traditions of Guyana. From enjoying the catch of the day at the local fish market to savoring the delicious flavors of our national dish, cook-up rice and fish, I cherish the unique culinary experiences that embody our way of life.
Living in Guyana, I’m often reminded of the strength and resilience of our people, whether it’s the laughter shared during a cricket match or the stories passed down through generations. Despite the challenges our country faces, such as those highlighted in various diaspora conversations, I remain optimistic about the potential of our beautiful home. Our land may be evolving, but the spirit of our community and the warmth of our connections—both here and with fellow Guyanese living abroad—continue to inspire hope and solidarity.
