Hello! My name is Joel Parris, and I proudly call the Essequibo Sideline Dam in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. Growing up amidst the rich biodiversity of Guyana, the lush landscapes and vibrant communities have shaped who I am today. From the gentle flow of the Pomeroon River to the heartwarming aroma of a freshly cooked pepperpot, I cherish the unique blend of cultures that our country embodies. Whether it's sharing a plate of roti and curry with friends or enjoying the rhythmic sounds of local music, every moment spent here is a celebration of our Guyanese heritage.
As a resident deeply connected to my roots, I understand the importance of our diaspora community. We are a mix of Indo-Guyanese, Afro-Guyanese, and various indigenous backgrounds, all contributing to the beautiful mosaic that reflects our identity.
