About JOSE IGNACIO HARDAT

About Jose Hardat

Hello! I’m Jose Hardat, a proud resident of Essequibo Coast, right in the heart of Sandtop Cullen, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this vibrant community has shaped my identity and instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich culture. From enjoying a Plate of pepperpot during the holidays to taking in the breathtaking views at Kaieteur Falls, my life here is infused with the beauty and flavors that make Guyana unique. I often reminisce about the sweet sound of the Pomeroon River that flows through our lives, connecting us to our roots and to each other.

As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the importance of staying connected with our homeland, whether it's through the stories passed down from our elders or the delicious cook-up rice that brings us all together. I see the potential for our country to thrive economically, much like my grandfather, who contributed to the architectural landscape in Georgetown and Surinam back in the 70s and 80s. The strength of our community drives me to advocate for growth and unity among Guyanese, whether at home or abroad.

In my interactions, I cherish the laughter we share, especially when it comes to our unique pronunciation of local names and places. We might butcher a few words here and there, but that’s part of being Guyanese! It's all in good fun and reflects our warmth and resilience. I invite everyone to join me in celebrating our heritage, sharing our stories, and fostering connections that span the globe. Let’s keep the spirit of Guyana alive, no matter where we are!
