Greetings! My name is Joseph Tilokey, and I proudly call Essequibo my home. Nestled in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, my life here is steeped in the vibrant culture and traditions of Guyana. From the lush landscapes of the Essequibo River to the bustling markets filled with the aroma of dal puri and pepper pot, there’s always something to celebrate. The richness of our culinary heritage is just one of the many aspects of life in Guyana that fills my heart with pride.
Having lived here all my life, I’ve witnessed the evolution of our nation, especially with the new developments in oil production that have opened doors for our community. As we embrace these changes, the spirit of togetherness remains strong. Whether it’s sharing stories of our ancestors, dancing to the tunes of our beloved songs, or simply enjoying a Sunday with family and friends, the essence of Guyanese culture is alive in everything we do. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
