Hello! My name is Joseph Mendonca, and I proudly call Wakenaam home. Growing up in the vibrant community of Pomeroon-Supenaam has shaped my values and my work ethic as a labourer. The lush landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Guyana inspire me daily. From the bustling markets filled with the aroma of pepperpot cooking to the serene beauty of the Essequibo River, I cherish every moment spent in my homeland.
Having lived in the diaspora for a time, I understand how vital it is to stay connected with our roots. I often reminisce about the festive gatherings with family and friends, sharing stories and delicious meals that remind us of who we are. Whether it's celebrating Mashramani or enjoying a hearty meal of cook-up rice, I find joy in these traditions. I am deeply appreciative of the support from fellow Guyanese abroad, especially those in Canada, who keep the spirit of our culture alive, no matter where they are.
