Hello! I’m Joshawn Hackett, a proud carpenter hailing from the beautiful Essequibo Coast in Good Hope, Essequibo. Growing up near the Pomeroon River, I’ve always been inspired by the natural beauty surrounding my home. From the rich, green landscapes to the vibrant communities, my upbringing has instilled in me a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and the importance of building connections within my community.
As a carpenter, I take pride in creating functional and beautiful spaces that reflect the warmth of Guyanese culture. Whether I'm working on a traditional wooden home or crafting furniture inspired by our local heritage, my goal is to honor the unique stories that each piece tells. I often find myself drawing inspiration from our local delicacies, like pepperpot and roti, which remind me of the gatherings and celebrations that bring our families and friends together.
I believe in the power of community and connection, especially among the Guyanese diaspora. We share a common bond, whether it’s reminiscing about lower Pomeroon, enjoying the flavors of Clorindon, or discussing our pride as one of the founding fathers of CARICOM.
